hasten dance founded in 2022 by Chelsea Roquero & Krystal Masteller. We are first and foremost friends who share a love for collaborating and discovering all that is possible. In life and art, we aim to not take ourselves seriously while taking our artistic creations seriously. Together we formulate an entity that collaborates over new ideas exploring all aspects of interest together. Our approach to movement is rooted in finding extreme physicality and intricacy through energetic and momentum-based techniques. By doing so, we discover our most authentic voice and identity. We believe that ease and efficiency are key to unlocking more space and potential in our bodies. It is our goal to acknowledge, incorporate, and honor the importance of the whole human self: identity, emotions, and anatomy, to generate autonomy in our process as well as the spaces we create.
hasten dance has presented work at MashUp’s International Women’s Day Festival (2023) & Disco Riot’s Choreo & Fly festival presented at La Jolla’s; WOW Festival with collaborator Kaia Makihara (2023). They have been invited to teach at Genesis Studios, Emerging Artist Class Series (2023), Stomping Ground LA’s Community Free Day of Dance event, See Yourself (2023 & 2024), & Renaissance Art’s High School (2023 & 2024). Their debut evening length with Kaia Makihara, "Bounded by Intervals" (2024) was presented this past July at the "Dance at the Odyssey Festival: Summer Edition" in Santa Monica, CA.
Class will be focusing on intermediate leaning towards advanced floorwork with momentum based movement. There will be a warm up, across the floor passes, and a big phrase. We will continue to explore downstage traveling, anatomical alignment inconsideration to directionality, and softening in the body to move more efficiently. All of this will be accompanied by our FAV 2000s banger playlist to drive momentum!
Details/Needs for Class:
Always advised to bring your knee pads.
