Embodying Ballet

Embodying Ballet with Bruce McCormick is a forward-thinking approach to the language of ballet grappling with the question of what ballet means today. In this intermediate/advanced class, dancers are encouraged to employ ballet as a means to personal expression. The class is based in anatomical principles, musical investigation and qualitative exploration with a focus on functional movement through space. Dancers are encouraged to bring their full selves to the room to create a space where both individual and community practice are prioritized. Classes on 6/1 and 6/8 will be followed by an hour of contemporary ballet phrase work.
